How will the photos be assessed ?

The method of assessment in the FOTOIGRZYSKA is that, what distinguishes this contest from others. The photos will be assesses several times and yet, the sum of all assessments will decide on the final results.

The choice of the best photographer and awarding the title of the MASTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY will be made on the basis of the points gained during the whole contest and all points form thematic editions will also have an influence.

So lets see how the contest will proceed and how each photo and author will be assessed.

The contest is divided into 6 thematic editions ( landscape, people, nature, architecture, sport, report) and additional editions. The additional editions are not taken into account when choosing the MASTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY, that is they have no influence on the final result.

After the deadline for submitting the photos for certain thematic edition, the process of assessing is started. Each Juror makes an independent assessment giving points to 50 best works according to him.

Let's assume that Mr Jan Kowalski sent 2 photos for the first thematic edition.
Each of this photo was assessed by 5 independent Jurors from all over the world ( in fact there will be 20 Jurors; in the example, a smaller number of Jurors was given for faster presentation of the rules of voting). Each Juror gave the following points ( with compliance with a chart on the REGULATIONS site):

For the photo nr 1:
Juror 1: chose the 3rd place and gave 800 points
Juror 2: chose the 1st place and gave 1000 points
Juror 3: chose the 12th place and gave 440 points
Juror 4: chose the 45th place and gave 10 points
Juror 5: chose the 7th place and gave 620 points

Totally, the photography number 1 got : 2870 points.

For the photo number 2:

Juror 1: chore a place out of first 50 and gave 0 points
Juror 2: chose the 48th place and gave 4 points
Juror 3: chose a place out of first 50 and gave 0 points
Juror 4: chose a place out of first 50 and gave 0 points
Juror 5: chose the 33rd place and gave 70 points

Totally, the photo nr 2 got : 73 points.

After summing up the assessments of all the photos, it turned out, that Mr Jan Kowalski's works occupy the following positions:

- photo nr 1: 2870 points - 2nd place - so the author gets a prize for the second place in the 1st thematic category and 900 points ( for the 2nd place in the 1st thematic category) in the classification of the Master of Photography. - photo nr 2: 73 points - 49th place - for the 49th place there is no award in the thematic contest, and for the classification of the Master of Photography we add points for one ( the best ) photography from each category, so even though the photography got 2 points for the 49th place, they are not added to the classification of the Master of Photography, because points form photography nr 1, which was better in this thematic category, had been added.

For all 6 thematic categories, the points are counted in the same way. Lets assume, that after 6 thematic editions the author has gathered the following rates ( according to the chart on the Regulations site):

Edition I: 2nd place- 900 points for the Master of Photography classification
Edition II: 10th place - 500 points for the Master of Photography classification
Edition III: 4th place - 750 points for the Master of Photography classification
Edition IV: 25th place - 150 points for the Master of Photography classification
Edition V: 69th place - 0 points for the Master of Photography classification
Edition VI: 1st place - 1000 points for the Master of Photography classification

Totally, in the Master of Photography Classification the photographer has gathered 3300 points. After summing up the points of all the authors it turned out, that Mr. Jan Kowalski occupies the 2nd place and gets the title of the Vice-Master of Photography 2007 and prizes.
